Travis Zahnow Named Aspen Strategy Group Rising Leader
AWM Paper Prize Winner Joins ASG Rising Leaders Class of 2025
JAFFREY, NH – The Andrew W. Marshall Foundation (AWMF) is pleased to announce that Travis Zahnow, a Grand Prize Winner of the 2022 Andrew W. Marshall Paper Prize, has been named by the Aspen Institute as a member of the Aspen Strategy Group (ASG) Rising Leaders Program Class of 2025. The Rising Leaders Program cultivates young professionals to serve as the next generation of leaders in national security and foreign policy.
Travis serves as a Major in the U.S. Army at the United States Strategic Command leading planning efforts to operationalize strategic deterrence. His current research focuses on escalation dynamics and risk management in limited intervention strategies.
Together with Elliot M. Seckler, Travis co-authored “America’s Reactive Foreign Policy: How U.S. Organizational Culture and Behavior Advantage China,” the Grand Prize Winner of the 2022 Andrew W. Marshall Paper Prize on the Role of Organizational Behavior in Competition.
Travis previously served as an Art of War Scholar at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and as a research assistant at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs. He holds an MA in Strategic Studies and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), a Master of Military Art and Science (MMAS) in Strategy from CGSC, and a BA from the U.S. Military Academy.
