Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you may add new authors to a writing team. Please inform AWMF so that we can add the additional authors to our records.
AWMF does not require Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for your research to be eligible to compete in its prize competitions. However, if you are affiliated with an institution that has an IRB and is willing to review your research proposal for this competition (keeping in mind that you are competing in a personal capacity), it would most likely benefit you as an author to obtain approval from that IRB before proceeding with human subject research.

We want to give everyone the same amount of space to convey their thoughts and ideas. Any submission significantly over a word limit will be disqualified. Please note that footnotes do not count toward the word limit.
No, footnotes do not count toward the limit.
We are not looking for analysis that is estimative in the NIE sense, but it also need not be as formulaic as most journal articles tend to be. What we are looking for above all is expert judgment; inferences or hypotheses that are not obvious; and analysis that is not solely hard evidence-based but that also draws on history, culture, and suppositions about behavior in anticipated circumstances. In terms of tenor and tone, we are comfortable with a range of styles, including those less formal than either an NIE or a journal article.
You may footnote your interviewees and assign them codes, with the “code book” held securely by AWMF.
