Jaymie Durnan has served in senior roles in the private sector, the government sector, and the not-for-profit sector. A friend, confidant, and mentee of Andy Marshall for over four decades, Jaymie co-founded the Andrew W. Marshall Foundation with Andy to continue Andy’s unrelenting focus on finding and fostering people who are passionate about understanding the long-term strategic challenges facing the United States.
In addition to his role with the Foundation, Jaymie serves as a consultant to the Director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory, the nation’s premiere federally funded Department of Defense research, development and prototyping center; Director of Siga Technologies; Director of Kimball Physics; and Advisor to the Hudson Institute Center for Defense Concepts and Technology.
A member of the New York State Bar, he has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, and Special Counsel at MacAndrews & Forbes Holding Inc.; Product Line Manager at BAE Systems; Partner at Radius Capital Partners; and Managing Member of Woodbury Hill Partners, LLC, a strategic advisory firm.
His government service includes serving as a member of the Federal Senior Executive Service as the Special Assistant (Chief of Staff) to the Deputy Secretary of Defense and a Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense in the President George W. Bush administration; serving as the Senior Advisor to the Chief Technology Officer and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering in the President Barack Obama administration; and an aircraft- carrier based naval aviator, with roles in strategy development, strategic assessments, arms control, budgeting, and programming.
